The maths used to be oh so easy.  If you wanted a big, established and respected contractor to carry out your demolition, you would expect to pay a premium.  Their staff were more highly-trained and experienced; their equipment was factory-fresh and to the very latest specification; and they had professional accreditations up the wazoo.

If budgets were tight, you might opt for a smaller and possibly less reputable company.  Their staff may be less well-trained; their equipment older and potentially less reliable; their accreditations fewer and of a lower standard.

You paid your money and you took your choice.

More recently, however, those traditional lines have been blurred and become less defined.
