You appraise the dilemma of many a skilled artisan who is contemplating the viability of a future in construction. In addition to your points raised there are concerns from the sector that the CSCS are not recognising any prior learning (NVQ units) achieved in earlier years. Apparently they (the CSCS) are insisting that IA candidates wishing to achieve the appropriate qualification do the entire NVQ regardless of any piecemeal units already completed.
If the latter is true it is bordering on criminal!
